Guadalupe Island is the top destination for Great White Shark cage diving encounters. This small volcanic island located in the Pacific 240 kilometers off the west coast of Mexico’s Baja California peninsula outperforms both South Africa and Australia with shark-seeing consistency and watching conditions. Only Guadalupe Island can boast shark viewing in beautiful clear blue water with 125–150 foot visibility. You do not need to be a certified scuba diver to use the surface cages on Guadalupe trips so these Great White Shark trips are open to both divers and non-divers!
Guadalupe liveaboard trips start and finish in San Diego (USA) with a coach transfer included between San Diego and Ensenada (Mexico) where you embark and disembark your chosen liveaboard. Cage diving at Guadalupe Island takes place from July to November each year. July and August features rowdy gangs of male Great Whites acting just like groups of teenage boys! Female Great Whites start showing up in September. October and November features the enormous 18 foot dominant female Great Whites affectionately known as Big Mommas! Over 220 individual Great Whites have been identified in the bay where the cage diving takes place.
